THE NEW COVENANT AND THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID

ACTS 15:15] "And with this the words of the Prophets agree, just as it is written, [16] `AFTER THESE THINGS I will return, AND I WILL REBUILD THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID WHICH HAS FALLEN, AND I WILL REBUILD ITS RUINS, AND I WILL RESTORE IT, [17] IN ORDER THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD,
AND ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME,' [18] SAYS THE LORD, WHO MAKES THESE THINGS KNOWN FROM OF OLD.
In previous studies we saw that it is God, Himself that is going to restore the Tabernacle of David and the reason He is going top do it is also clear! It is so that all the Gentiles and the rest of mankind will seek the Lord.
It would be easy to expect from these scriptures that somehow God was going to rebuild a little tent that had fallen down in Israel. Then God would have to find the Ark of the Covenant intact with the Mercy Seat and the two Cherubim of glory and return it to Mt. Zion in Israel.
Like so many prophesies from the Old Testament the actual fulfillment is only recognized after the experienced event has passed. This was true of many of the prophesies concerning the coming of the Messiah. Many of the prophesies can only be interpreted by revelation before the prophesies are actually fulfilled. However, many prophesies must be spiritually interpreted even after the actual event has taken place. James had no trouble using the prophesy from Amos 9 to make a decision concerning the Gentiles becoming believers without being circumcised.
We have already used the prophesies concerning the Tabernacle of David and made an application to each of our personal lives. In other words one aspect of the restoration of the Tabernacle of David in the New Covenant is when God comes to dwell within us. In this case the “TENT” is our body but the Ark of the Covenant is the Trinity dwelling within this “TENT” of flesh.
There are quite a few scriptures that confirm the indwelling of God in the true believers life. Our bodies are the temple, tabernacle or dwelling place of God by the Spirit. While I am sure this will seem strange to many Christians it is a scriptural fact, whether we believe it or not. There many be a much more forceful way to show this truth.
JOHN 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He was in the beginning with God. [3] All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. [4] In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. [5] And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
JOHN 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His
glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. [15] John bore witness of Him, and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, `He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.'" [16] For of His fulness we have all received, and grace upon grace. [17] For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. [18] No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
JOHN 17:[5] "And now, glorify Thou Me together with Thyself, Father, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was.
JOHN 17:22] "And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one; [23] I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me. [24] "Father, I desire that they also, whom Thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am, in order that they may behold My glory, which Thou hast given Me; for Thou didst love Me before the foundation of the world.
For us to see a literal example of the Tabernacle of David restored in our midst should be quite encouraging. To do that we should examine the facts revealed concerning the Tabernacle of David. First there was the outward shell that housed the Ark of His Presence that was called the tent or the tabernacle. Inside this tent was the Ark, the Mercy Seat, the Presence, the glory, and from between the two Cherubim God spoke. Inside the Ark was Aaron’s rod that budded, the two tablets of stone and the hidden manna in the little gold jar.
Now even though the explanation is quite simple it is most profound. In the very beginning was the Word and that Word was with God and that Word was God. That Word came to earth and was housed in a human tent or a human tabernacle. Since that Word was God, Himself, He had to have great Glory. To fulfill the type in the Tabernacle of David that Glory must be seen. However, the glory was hid behind a veil of human flesh. Some who had spiritual eyes to see could “see” His glory. But to further emphasize His glory on the mount of transfiguration Peter, James and John saw Him transfigured before their eyes and they beheld His glory.
At this time they were also in the very Presence of God and God spoke from out of the glory.
MARK 9:2 And six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up to a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; [3] and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them. [4] And Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus. [5] And Peter answered and said to Jesus, "Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah." [6] For he did not know what to answer; for they became terrified. [7] Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!" [8] And all at once they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.
2 PET 1:16] For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. [17] For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased"-- [18] and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.
We know that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself. Jesus said that He was in the Father and the Father was in Him. Jesus said “ I and My Father am one”. “If you have seen me you have seen the Father”. “The Father is in Me and I am in the Father”. This unity between the Father and Son is exactly the same unity between Christ and His church AND the same unity that is between members of His Church.
JOHN 17:11] "And I am no more in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep them in Thy name, the name which Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, even as We are.
JOHN 17:20] "I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me
through their word; [21] that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me. [22] "And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one; [23] I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, [into a unit] that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.
Jesus has made available to each one who believes in Him [in the Bible way] seven things to make the believers into one [unit]. (1) Faith in Jesus (2) His glory (3) He, Himself, In His believers (4) The same Love that the Father had for Jesus to be in us. (5) That we should be in Him even as He is in the Father (6) That we be sanctified in Truth that IS His Word (7) Kept in His Name.
In the same way that the Father sent Jesus, He now sends us. He is the light of the world and He said we are now the light of the world etc. Many of the same things spoken of Jesus is also spoken of His true believers.
In the same way that God restored the Tabernacle of David in Jesus Christ He also will restore the Tabernacle of David in His church. The Glory of God was in Christ and made visible. Christ dwelt in an earthly tent, a human body. God spoke in His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus, Himself is the Mercy Seat, the propitiatory and is our propitiation. He is now established upon the mountain of God, Mt. Zion. The Rod of God is in Him, all authority in heaven and earth has been given to Him.  The Rod had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds. All three measures are fulfilled in Jesus Christ.  He is the hidden Manna, the true bread that came down out of heaven. That true bread that came down out of heaven to give life to the world is hidden in Christ. The laws of God are in Him and He always does that which pleases the Father. He is the laws of God fulfilled, the New Covenant in His blood.
Now in that same way God wants to restore the Tabernacle of David in us. God has provided for us an earthy tent [a tabernacle] in which He wants to dwell. {not visit} God has given His glory to us to manifest and He wants the world to see that glory.
He wants us to extend His mercy to mankind and He has appointed us to be “the place” or “seat of His mercy”. JUDE 1:22] And have mercy on some, who are doubting; [23] save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.
While we are just “wood” He wants us to be overlaid with Gold, the Divine character. God will speak within us [between the two Cherubim] {the soul and the spirit} and then through us. We are to be the place of His voice to the world.
God has designed the church to have no veil and to be open for all to see and hear. The Ark is in us and we are in the Ark.
Jesus Christ has given us His authority and His name. The Rod of God is given to us. Now the church is to put forth buds and produce blossoms and bear ripe almonds. We are to be the Laws of the Kingdom manifested and demonstrated.
We must participate by eating the hidden Manna and then manifest that life to the world. REV. 2:17] `He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden manna. The Tabernacle of David will produce the overcomers.
