RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD

One of the essential doctrines of the Christian church is the resurrection form the dead. It is absolutely required for a Christian to believe in the resurrection; both of Jesus Christ and the believer. ROM 10:8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart"-- that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, ROM 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus {as} Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; ROM 10:10 for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. There will be a resurrection of the righteous and a resurrection of the unrighteous. JOH 5:28 "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice, JOH 5:29 and shall come forth; those who did the good {deeds} to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil {deeds} to a resurrection of judgment.
Some churches believe in a resurrection of the righteous but not a resurrection of the unrighteous. Some liberal churches now refuse to believe that God will judge the unrepentant sinner. They teach that a God of love could not also be a god of judgement. If God does not judge the unrighteous there will be no accountability for the sinner. The the sinner will not be held accountable for his rebellion against God. Somehow God is supposed to reconcile the unbeliever and forgive his sin after death. This is the "doctrine of ultimate reconcilation". Some even say that the devil will be forgiven someday. If that were true hell would have no inhabitants. The Catholic doctrine of purgatory creates a place where the sinner goes until he pays for his sins. When his sins are paid for in full he is released to go to heaven.
Jesus taught that there was a place of eternal torment. REV 14:9 And another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or upon his hand, REV 14:10 he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. REV 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; and they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name."
LUK 16:23 "And in Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and *saw Abraham far away, and Lazarus in his bosom. LUKE 16:24 "And he cried out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue; for I am in agony in this flame.' LUK 16:25 "But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony.
MAT 8:29 And behold, they cried out, saying, "What do we have to do with You, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?"
MAR 9:43 "And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, MAR 9:44 [where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] MAR 9:45 "And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than having your two feet, to be cast into hell, MAR 9:46 [where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] MAR 9:47 "And if your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes, to be cast into hell, MAR 9:48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.
Jesus clearly taught that Hell is a place of fire and eternal torment forever and ever. REV 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them. And I {saw} the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. REV 20:5 The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection. REV 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.
The righteous will be resurrected before the millennium and will rule with Christ for 1000 years. The unrighteous will not be resurrected until the 1000 year reign is finished and it is time to begin the eternal Kingdom. The resurrection before the millennial reign of Christ is called "a resurrection of life and the last resurrection that follows the millennium is a resurrection of the second death. They will come to life in order to live in death. No one will be totally eliminated as some teach. All will live; some in life and some in death.
